About the event
What will I learn?
In this 2-day in-person workshop for 8th grade teachers, you will learn how to use a series of web applications and hands-on learning experiences to playfully explore and create sound. This workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Victor Minces and Dr. Alec Barron. Dr. Minces is a neuroscientist of music and a sound artist that designed the web applications. Dr. Barron is the Director of the San Diego Science Project at UC San Diego. You will experience an NGSS-aligned instructional unit that you can teach your students.

2 Workshop Date Options: Â July 12th and 13th Â
- The workshop will be from 8:30am to 3:30pm each day.

 FoodÂ
A light breakfast and refreshments will be provided in the morning. There will be a 1-hour break for lunch on your own.
 ParkingÂ
Will be provided.
 StipendÂ
Participants will receive a stipend of $600 for attending the workshop and completing some light homework before and after the event, and attend a 1.5 hour virtual follow-up meeting to support what was learned at the workshop.
 ParticipationÂ
Participants will be asked to complete surveys before and after the workshop and after you have taught some lessons with what you learned from the workshop. Â You will also be asked to attend a 1.5 hour virtual follow-up meeting.
