How to Download the Cooler Communities Unit to Your Google Drive
This guide walks you through copying the full Cooler Communities unit —12 lesson plans plus a Unit Resources folder—into your own Google Drive. It takes about 5–10 minutes. You'll need a Google account.
Step 1 — Start the copy. On the unit page, click Copy Unit to Your Drive. (This tool only copies San Diego Science Project materials; it can't see or change any of your other files.)
Step 2 — Sign in. When prompted, sign in to the Google account where you want the unit saved.
Step 3 — Review permissions. Google will ask you to grant permission to the San Diego Science Project app. Click Review Permissions. (This is a standard Google security screen.)
Step 4 — Grant access. On the "Select what San Diego Science Project can access" screen, make sure Select all is checked, then click Continue. This lets the app copy only the unit files—it cannot access anything else in your Drive.
Step 5 — Wait for the copy. The unit will begin copying (about 5–10 minutes). Keep this window open until it finishes.
Step 6 — Confirm it's done. When you see "Copy Complete! 76 of 76 files copied," the unit is in your Drive.
Step 7 — Find the unit. Go to your Google Drive. The unit is saved in My Drive as "Cooler Communities - PUBLIC (Copy)."
Step 8 — Open it. Open that folder to see all 12 lesson plans and the Unit Resources folder.
Optional: Remove app access later. Once your copy is complete, you can revoke the app's access anytime:
Manage Your Google Account → Data and Privacy
→ Third-party apps and services → San Diego Science Project
→ See all details → Remove all access.
