Marlys Williamson is the Science Coordinator for the Chula Vista Elementary School District, where she leads the district in NGSS implementation with a focus on collaborative conversations and high-impact language strategies in science. Marlys received her B.A. in Liberal Studies with a Specialization in Science from San Diego State University.  She also earned her Teaching Credential from SDSU in 2006, and began teaching in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. She earned her Masters of Education in Science Curriculum from the University of Texas at Arlington.  Marlys spent 15 years in the classroom, before taking the position of CVESD’s Science Coordinator in 2021. She was recently recognized as California’s 2020 Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.  Her passion and goals revolve around ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality science education, especially those students who have been historically marginalized.
